MCP
The SignupKit MCP server lets you run SignupKit from an AI assistant. Describe your event in plain words and it builds the sign up sheet, or ask who is bringing dessert and it reads the sheet for you. It works in ChatGPT, in Claude, and in any other assistant that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard these assistants use to connect to apps.
What it can do
Sheets
| Find your sheets | List upcoming, past, or draft sheets, or find one by name. |
| Show a sheet | Dates, slots, how many spots are filled, questions, and settings. |
| Create a sheet | From a description of the event. Always saved as a draft. |
| Change a sheet | Title, dates, place, questions, reminders, plus-ones, style. Publish, unpublish, pause, or resume it. |
| Edit slots | Add, change, or remove slots. Slots people signed up for are archived, not lost. |
| Copy a sheet | Make next month’s or next year’s event from this one, as a new draft. |
| Delete a sheet | Only when you ask, and the assistant should confirm with you first. |
People
| See who signed up | Names, slots, and answers. Emails and phone numbers only when you ask for them. |
| Add someone | “Put Mike down for drinks.” Slot limits still apply. |
| Move or fix someone | “Move Jen from setup to cleanup,” or correct a name or answer. |
| Remove someone | “Take Sarah off setup, she can’t come.” Frees their spot. |
Account
| Check your plan | Which account is connected and what its plan allows. |
Things to ask
- “Make a Thanksgiving potluck signup for 20 people on November 26.”
- “Set up volunteer shifts for the book fair, two cashiers every two hours from 8 to 4.”
- “Who hasn’t signed up for a snack date yet?” or “Which slots still need people?”
- “Add three more cleanup spots and move setup to 9am.”
- “Copy last year’s carnival sheet for October 10.”
Connect it
ChatGPT
- Open the SignupKit plugin in ChatGPT and add it.
- Ask for a sign up sheet. When ChatGPT needs your account, it asks you to connect.
- Sign in to SignupKit on the page that opens and approve the connection. That page lists exactly what ChatGPT will be allowed to do.
Claude
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it SignupKit and paste this address:
https://www.signupkit.co/mcp - Click Connect, then sign in to SignupKit and approve the connection.
In Claude Code, run:
claude mcp add --transport http signupkit https://www.signupkit.co/mcpOther assistants and MCP clients
Add a remote MCP server with the address https://www.signupkit.co/mcp. It uses the streamable HTTP transport and signs in with OAuth, so your client opens a SignupKit page to sign in and approve access. No API key is needed. It asks for two permissions: signups:read to see your sheets and who signed up, and signups:write to create and change them.
Try it without an account
You can ask for a sheet before connecting anything. The assistant saves your plan and gives you a link. Open it within 7 days and sign in, or create a free account, and the sheet is waiting for you as a draft.
What stays in your hands
- New sheets are always saved as drafts. Nothing goes live until you press Publish on the sheet’s card in the chat, ask the assistant to publish it, or publish it in SignupKit.
- It cannot email, text, or message the people on your sheets, and it cannot charge anyone. Adding, moving, or removing someone does not notify them. To email your sign-ups, use Messages in SignupKit.
- Your plan works the same as on the website. If a setting needs a paid plan, the assistant tells you it was not saved instead of saving it anyway.
- Waivers and file uploads can only be completed by the person signing up, on the sheet.
- If you are in an organization, the assistant sees the organization’s sheets as well as your own, the same as your dashboard.
Building your own integration?
For your own website, scripts, or tools such as Zapier, use the REST API instead. It works with API keys rather than signing in, and is part of the Organization plan.
