Sharing
People sign up from a link. They do not need an account. Visibility decides who can open that link, and whether the event can also be found without it.
Which setting fits
The control is the visibility button in the builder footer. It opens with the current setting as its label, usually Public. The three choices are:
- Public means anyone with the link can open the page and sign up. Use this for a picnic, a fundraiser, a game schedule, or anything you would post in a group chat, a newsletter, or on a flyer. This is the right default.
- Unlisted means the page is not listed for people to browse to. Someone still needs the link. Use it for a classroom, a team roster, or a rehearsal you are only sending to the people involved. It is not a lock. A person who is forwarded the link can open it.
- Password protected asks for a password before the page is visible. Use it when the link might get forwarded and the contents should stay with people who have the password: a draft schedule, a closed committee, a family event you do not want indexed. Set the password in the field that appears under that choice. Share the password in a separate message from the link. Password protection is paid. On the free plan the choice is visible, and saving the sheet with a password is refused until you upgrade.
Show on my page
Public events have an extra switch, Show on my page. On, the event is listed at signupkit.co/your-username. Listed events that have a description can appear in Google search. Leave it on for something you want strangers to find, such as a public fundraiser. Turn it off when the link is enough and you do not want the event sitting on your profile.
Unlisted and password-protected events are already kept off that page, so the switch is not offered for them.
How to share it
Finish the sheet, then click Publish signup. The public page has its own address. Send that address. People open it, claim a slot, and answer whatever you turned on under Questions. You can change visibility later from the same footer button and publish the update.
Put the practical details — where to enter, what to bring, the date — on the sheet before you send the link. A link with an empty description makes people reply to ask the questions the page should have answered. If you want a reminder to go out before the day, set that under Email before you rely on it.
Embed and QR
The dialog that opens when the sheet goes live has three ways to hand it out. Share Link is the address. Embed Code is an iframe plus a script. Paste both into your own site. The script grows the frame to fit the form. A site that removes scripts still shows the form, at a fixed height, with its own scrollbar. QR Code is a scannable image of that same address. Downloading it is paid. On the free plan the dialog explains that QR codes are on paid plans, and Download QR in My signups stays disabled.
The same link, embed, and QR are available later from the signup, under Manage a signup.
